This course is designed as an introduction to computers, word processors and presentation programs.  Students will be able to identify basic computer components, practice good file management and show competency in the use of a computer’s operating system.  Students will show mastery in the use a word processor to create and format documents.  Additional topics covered in the word processor will also include the use of graphic and photo editing tools.  Students will also address the process of creating graphic presentations and display a competency in the use of appropriate programs.

CS 2 Excel             CS200

  • Credit: one semester, 0.5 credits

  • Prerequisite: CS1

  • Grade: 9-12

Computer Science 2 is an introduction to spreadsheets, HTML coding and Flash multimedia.  Students will show competency in setting up, formatting and use of complex formulas in a spreadsheet.  Students will also demonstrate mastery in the use of HTML code to create basic web documents as well as the use and creation of Flash based multimedia content.

CS3a Photoshop     CS310

  • Credit: one semester, 0.5 credits

  • Prerequisite: CS1 & 2

  • Grade: 10-12

Computer Science 3a Photoshop is an introduction to Photoshop 7.0.   Students will demonstrate mastery in the basic tools and features of the software program as well as the proper procedure for creating graphics for the Web and print.

CS3c FrontPage

  • Credit: one semester, 0.5 credits

  • Prerequisite: CS1 & 2

  • Grade: 10-12

Computer Science 3c FrontPage is an introduction to the fundamentals of FrontPage.  Students will become acquainted with the proper procedure to design and create Web page suitable for course work, professional purposes, and personal uses. Students will demonstrate mastery in the use of FrontPage as a web page authoring and site management program.

CS4 Multimedia II            CS400

Multimedia is one of the most exciting and engaging forms of communication. With continuing improvements in hardware and software it is now possible to produce compelling multimedia productions with readily accessible equipment. This course teaches students the skills and concepts they need to be able to produce quality ‘rich media’ presentations. Students work as teams and individually to fulfill given design briefs and produce presentations that are used at Grace and beyond.

Drafting                            TE110

  • Credit: Semester course 0.5 credit

  • Prerequisite:

  • Grades: 10-12

This course will be an introduction to sketching, mechanical drafting, and computer aided drafting. Students will learn three view, isometric and oblique representation of objects. Design fabrication and testing of student drawings will compliment the graphic presentation. Students will develop career awareness as well as observe videos of new technology.
