Journalism Yearbook          LA210

  •  Credit: Full year, 1.0 credit

  •  Prerequisite: Photoshop is  recommended

  •  Grades: 11-12  (Grade 10 with teacher recommendation)

This course is focused on publishing the school yearbook.  The fundamentals of journalistic writing, layout design using Adobe PageMaker and Adobe Photoshop, photography, setting and meeting short and long-term goals, and marketing are taught as a basis for publishing the yearbook. At the end of the year, students use PowerPoint to create a slideshow of memories of the school year.

Horticulture                  SC100
  •  Credit: Full year, 1.0 credit

  •  Grades: 11-12 

Horticulture focuses on the culture and care of plants while teaching management and landscape concepts. Students learn competencies in establishing, maintaining, and managing horticulture enterprises.  Students are required to plan, establish and maintain a project at GIS. This course is recommended for 11th or 12th grade students. This course can provide the student with science credit with the approval of the teacher, guidance counselor and high school principal.

Teacher's Aide              ND 100
  •  Credit: one semester or full year, 0.5-1.0 credit

  •  Prerequisite: Counselor Approval

Teacher Aides assist teachers in preparation and managing of their specific courses.  Students are assigned to a teacher requesting a student Teacher Aide either in the elementary or high school. Duties are determined by the Supervising teacher. The course receives a grade of “P” for passing and earns credit but does not add toward the GPA.
