“Amazing fun!” said a GIS junior, after a three-day Thai English Camp. “These kids are eager to learn, competitive and love Bible action-songs and stories.”
About 30 teens and adults led 60 excited 4th-to-6th-graders, using materials and training from coordinators Marlene Allen, Dr. Jill Bird and Marcia Flaa. Children reviewed the alphabet and basic phrases, then created sentences using word games. Three schools have already requested weekly classroom volunteers for one hour, sharing Bible stories in English.
A few weeks later, families and young children had a great day-trip, encouraging nearby retirement-home folks with music, traditional dance, Bible stories, conversation and manicures. Some families drove farther, creating a camping trip also.
Teens and families were “The Hands and Feet of Jesus,” choosing to serve among 10 summer ministries. Some that continue all year include playing with orphans, teaching English to Karen refugees and medical team village ministry.
