Alumni Newsletter – Issue 1

Hello, GIS Alumni!

We want to kick off 2023 with the first issue of our quarterly alumni newsletter. You will receive quarterly updates on the latest events and highlights at GIS, what fellow alumni have been up to, our campus development projects, and ways to be involved and stay connected. We are looking forward to better engaging with you and hoping to do much more in the future!

Grace International School alumni gather for a photo

On December 14th, 2022, we were super excited to host an alumni gathering on campus! This was our first alumni event since 2019 and we had over twenty alumni attending from the Class of 2005 through the Class of 2022. Some even brought their spouses and children! We love seeing where the Lord leads our alumni after graduation. Alumni enjoyed lunch and dessert with opening remarks from our Superintendent Steve Anderson and Deputy Superintendent Joe Crain. It was awesome to see familiar faces on campus chatting about life and connecting with old teachers. We can’t wait to do this again!

Construction workers help build the Grace Middle School building

The construction of the middle school building is underway! The middle school building will allow us to serve more families on the mission field as well as allowing us to better focus on the development of students in grades 6 to 8. We are currently at the 25% completion mark have finished the following: preliminary, foundations, piling, ground beams, columns, roof beams, slab of toilets, post-tension slab. The tentative completion date is August 2023 and you can keep track of the construction progress at!

Christian Shepherd, a Grace alumni, visits Grace to tell students about a college they could consider attending when they graduate

Christian “Ben” Shepherd (Class of 2017) spent a year with Torchbearers International after graduating from GIS. After that he went on to major in history at Gordon College and is now working as Gordon College’s International Admissions Counselor. He loves his job, saying “I love working with international students because I know and understand them due to my background as a TCK. I also travel to recruit students too!” When asked about his time at Grace, Ben says, “To me, Grace is the whole package! They take faith seriously, the academics are strong, the community is fantastic and the teachers really cared about our lives. Whenever I visit a school, I always think about how they measure up to Grace.”

Elementary students worship during chapel

Elementary once again held their annual LIFT Week in November 2022. Students got on the stage and led their teachers and fellow classmates. There was creative worship, singing, a puppet show, a skit, and much more.

The Christmas Market was a huge success! Our parking lot and venue were packed the entire time. A big thank you to the PSC Team who were behind this amazing event.
