Alumni Newsletter – Issue 4

Welcome new staff!

23-24 new GIS staff

Every year, God has graciously met our staffing needs in unique ways. He has brought over thirty new and qualified staff members to GIS this year! With the new middle school program taking off, some staff members have shifted into new roles to form the middle school division. We’re so grateful that God has called every staff member to serve at Grace and cannot wait to see how God will use them to serve our students and families this school year.

Campus Development | Middle School

GIS Middle School Building

The Middle School building is completed! We are excited to start classes in our new middle school building. The hallways are bustling with energetic grades 6-8 students and staff thriving in this new environment. Thank you to all of our donors who have given to this project so that GIS may better serve more families of international Christian workers and enable them to be in their ministry long-term. This isn’t the end, though! We still have two more buildings left to complete Phase 1 of the campus: the Tiger Fieldhouse & Gymnasium and the Performing Arts building. For more information on our building projects and ways to donate, please visit https://www.gisthailand.org/campus-development/

GIS Alumni Jane and Jonathan Huang

Jane (Class of 2008) and Jonathan (Class of 2011) Huang recently visited the GIS campus! After graduating from GIS, they both went to college in the US. Jane did her undergrad in neuroscience and then got a job at the National Institutes of Health, where she worked for two years doing research before deciding to continue her neuroscience study by enrolling in a Ph.D. program at the University of Pittsburg. She has recently graduated and is now doing her postdoc. Meanwhile, Jonathan graduated with a Master’s in Education and has been teaching English online for two years while living in Taiwan.

Both of them look back on GIS positively. Jonathan says, “I have good memories of GIS and still keep in touch with people in my grade. It was a really unique environment for us to grow in and the TCK experience stays with you even if you have assimilated back in your home country.” Jane adds, “My teachers cared about me, which greatly impacted me. As Jonathan said, the unique experience at GIS has changed how I view and experience the world because I was exposed to so many differences growing up. After leaving, I realized how valuable that is in shaping me into someone flexible and accepting of other people’s different backgrounds and perspectives.

Fill out the following pray request form to let us know how we can pray for you…Seriously, we will be praying and you may hear back from us asking how things are going!
