International Week 2024

International Week Korean Students

It’s February again, which means it is time for the annual Grace International School International Week! It is a week where GIS, as a school, celebrates the diversity of our community. Over twenty nationalities are represented among our staff and GIS families, making GIS a vibrant and unique place where different cultures and stories meet.

Even though everyone may come from different backgrounds, one thing that everyone enjoys is food! Our kitchen staff prepared daily special lunches throughout the week, highlighting a specific culture. Some of the foods were green curry (Thailand), beef burgers (USA), kung pao chicken (China), Tacos (Latin America), and Korean fried chicken (Korea). GIS parents also came in to hold snack booths on Thursday and Friday, where students can try samples of snacks from around the world. What a delicious week it was for students and staff!

Food wasn’t the only way different cultures were showcased during the week. This year, GIS hosted a cultural art competition themed “Belonging in My Culture.” Students participated in showcasing the unique ways their cultures express a sense of belonging. Students submitted many creative works of art in various mediums, including pencil, paint, photography, and digital art.

On the last day, students and staff dressed up in cultural attire. The many colorful outfits from countries worldwide created a vivid and festive atmosphere on campus that highlighted one of the ways that makes the GIS community so unique.

GIS extends our utmost gratitude to staff, parents, and students for coming together and helping us celebrate all the different nationalities and cultures in the community. We are proud of our diversity and cannot wait to celebrate International Week again next year!
