Lifelong Ministry in Thailand

“Back to Our Crazy Life!” Clinton and Amber Garsee wrote in an early 2021 newsletter after beating the barriers of Covid-19 tests and government restrictions to once again land in Thailand, their home for twenty years. As expected, the Garsees’ life is indeed a crazy one for a family juggling full-time ministry overseas along with parenting four kids. It takes dedication to minister to Thai locals and adopting two Thai kids! But they did just that in Hat Yai for fourteen years and Bangkok for five more before moving to Chiang Mai in January 2021 to serve at Kingdom Life Church. The family focuses on mercy ministry, working with the poor and marginalized, as well as planting churches, training local Bible students and Christian leaders.

During the past two years of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Garsees have worked with their church to distribute survival bags to the poor and the Tai Yai people (a minority ethnic group). Recently, a Thai Yai man gave his life to the Lord and became a Christian leader in his community, leading the rest of the community to Christ. And it is all because God opened doors through Covid-19 for people like the Garsees to reach out. The situation allows people’s hearts to become open to having their spiritual needs met alongside their physical ones.

Meanwhile, God faithfully met the needs of the Garsee family in order for them to continue serving overseas despite their own challenges. Their son has special needs, and it almost pushed them to decide to return to the States. That is until they heard about Grace International School. “We’re so blessed to be here and be part of all that God is doing in Chiang Mai and in Thailand,” Amber says. “It’s because of Grace and their acceptance and willingness to help our son who has severe dyslexia that we are able to continue with the work God has called us to do.”

It is because of Grace that the Garsees can continue their lifelong ministry to the Thai people. And it is because of their ministry that many have come to know Christ, especially during a time when the world needs Christ more than ever before.
